A discreet gesture — like a specific PIN or fingerprint — opens Avelia in Safe Mode. The app looks and behaves identically, but shows plausible substitute data: regular cycles, neutral journal entries, unremarkable logs.
Safe Mode is not a hidden screen or a separate app. It is the same interface with believable, automatically generated data. There is no visible indicator that Safe Mode is active. Someone looking over your shoulder sees a normal health app.
Your actual entries remain encrypted and inaccessible while Safe Mode is active. They cannot be found by scrolling, searching, or examining the app. Only your real authentication restores your real data.
Some partners don’t just look at your phone — they insist on linking accounts or watching your data sync in real time. Safe Mode covers this too:
When Safe Mode is active, your linked partner sees the same plausible substitute data — synced in real time, just like a normal account. Regular cycles, neutral entries, nothing that raises questions.
There is no visible settings toggle, no second account, no suspicious storage usage. The safe profile is generated and maintained automatically. To your partner’s app, it looks like the only data that exists.
You can still sync your real data to the cloud and to a trusted device. You choose per contact who sees your actual entries and who only ever sees the safe profile. The real sync and the safe sync are cryptographically separated — one cannot reveal the other.
In some countries, evidence of contraception use, pregnancy termination, or fertility treatment can lead to prosecution. In some homes, a partner discovering cycle tracking data — or noticing its absence — can trigger violence.
Other apps tell you to “just delete the app.” That itself can raise suspicion. And apps that offer partner sharing give you no way to participate without exposing everything. Safe Mode lets you keep Avelia on your phone and even share an account — visible, normal, unremarkable — while your real data stays invisible.
