What is Avelia?
Avelia is a privacy-first mobile companion app for couples navigating fertility, pregnancy, and early parenthood. It covers seven life stages (from considering a family to early childhood) in one app, with all data end-to-end encrypted on the user’s device. Founded in 2024 in Germany.
How is Avelia different from Flo or Clue?
Flo, Clue, and similar apps store plaintext user data on centralised servers and are subject to data breaches, subpoenas, and advertising deals. Avelia uses zero-knowledge encryption, so we cannot read your data — not even if we wanted to. We’re also built for couples from day one and cover all 7 life stages, not just cycle tracking.
How much does Avelia cost?
Avelia has three tiers: Free (no account, no charge — includes NFP & cycle tracking), Light (cloud sync, symptom charts), and Premium (all 7 life stages, partner linking, expanded storage). Prices vary by region — check the pricing section on this page or in the app store for current rates. A 14-day Premium trial is included for all new users.
Is cycle tracking free?
Yes. NFP, cycle tracking, basal body temperature, and the Considering and Trying stages are available in the free tier with no account required. This is a deliberate choice — the basic tool should be universally accessible.
Who reads my data?
Nobody. Not Avelia employees, not our database administrators, not advertisers, not researchers. Your data is encrypted on your device with a key only you hold, and our servers store only opaque ciphertext. Even under a court order, we can only produce encrypted blobs that are mathematically useless without your key.
Does Avelia work offline?
Yes. All core functionality works offline. Cloud sync is optional and only needed to access data across devices or share with a linked partner.
Where are Avelia’s servers located?
All user data is stored in data centres in Germany, under EU jurisdiction. Avelia is not subject to the US CLOUD Act or similar extraterritorial data-access laws.
